Junior Preschool (2.5-3.5)
Our interactive Preschool Prep curriculum is a program designed to nourish the cognitive and social development of children aged 15-24 months. Our program stimulates curiosity and an appreciation for art, music, language, math and science, and incorporates gymnastics lessons taught in our state-of-the-art gym facility. These enriching school experiences help develop confident, joyful learners.
pedagogy
Pedagogy that makes us different:
Our teaching and learning philosophy is based on Multiple Intelligence theory developed by Howard Gardner, professor of education at Harvard University. A child can be taught in a wide variety of ways using music, cooperative learning, art activities, role play, multimedia, field trips, inner reflection, and much more.
Children at Tulip Kids are valued members of the learning environment, with their individual needs and interests helping shape the curriculum. Through thematic teaching, Tulip Kids brings together various aspects of the curriculum into meaningful association. Social studies, emergent literacy, mathematics, science, music, art and sports classes are introduced each day. Play and exploration are also vital components of the learning process. Each classroom follows a developmentally appropriate curriculum to strengthen and increase the skills and knowledge of each child.
Curriculum
Holistic Development of the Child
At Tulip Kids, we focus on the holistic development of the child
Interactive Play
Students experience independent exploration and social interactions through interactive play at the start of each day. State-of-the-art toys, manipulatives and props are arranged thematically each week to keep expanding upon the each student’s experience. The materials chosen support fine and gross motor skills, imaginary and construction play, developmentally appropriate letter and number awareness as well as creating a sense of community in class.
Arts
Students are exposed to a wide variety of art materials, textures and tools through process-oriented art projects. Teachers guide students through multi-step instructions as students are encouraged to complete projects independently. As children learn to handle and hold new art tools and utensils, their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills increase. Students bring home a unique art project each class to share with their families. This allows students to develop a sense of pride in their creations, fostering confidence and self-esteem.
Musical Rug Time
Music and Movement lessons expose children to a variety of musical styles and sounds through dance and instruments. Students are exposed to a new musical instrument and a new international song each week and are encouraged to explore tempo, pitch and rhythm. Through new music and repetition of familiar songs, students develop language and music appreciation.
Gym
Our state-of-the-art gym and Gymnastics-trained coaches are key elements in our preschool experience. It is well known that an active body feeds a growing mind, and we provide daily physical activity as a core part of the curriculum. Students also develop an understanding of rules and organization, a sense of teamwork and fair play, and build strong values and strong muscles at the same time.
Sensory
Cutting-edge toys, props and varied art supplies are available in every class as students are introduced to different art mediums. Verbal, social and fine-motor skills are developed through imaginative art projects and an energetic, musical circle time that explores and highlights the world around us. Our focus on art lessons is always process-oriented rather than product-oriented. Children are encouraged to complete each project individually with minimal assistance from instructors. Math and science learning tools—magnets, clay, water bins, artificial snow, lasers and more—are incorporated into the classroom and provide each student unique challenges on an individual level. These exploratory activities encourage an inquisitive mind and introduce the concept of cause and effect.
